5 slimme opbergoplossingen voor een compactere wasruimte

5 clever storage solutions for a more compact laundry room

A laundry room in a Dutch house or apartment is often small, but that doesn't mean you have to compromise on convenience and order. With a few thoughtful adjustments, you can get much more functionality out of the same square meters. Below, we list five practical solutions that are common in compact laundry and utility rooms.

  1. Washing machine risers. By placing the washing machine on a riser, you have to bend less when loading and unloading laundry. Many risers also have a drawer or shelf at the bottom, so you immediately gain extra storage space for detergent or other items.

2. Stacking kits. By stacking the dryer on top of the washing machine, you keep floor space free for other purposes. A sturdy stacking kit ensures a secure connection between both appliances, and some variants also offer a pull-out shelf or towel holder as an extra practical detail.

3. Vibration dampeners. These rubber feet under the washing machine or dryer reduce vibrations and noise during operation. A simple addition that can make a noticeable difference, especially in apartments with thinner floors or neighbors below you.

4. Foldable drying racks. A drying rack that mounts to the wall and folds flat when not in use takes up very little space. Handy for small bathrooms, balconies, or utility rooms where a freestanding drying rack quickly gets in the way.

5. Fold-out ironing boards. An ironing board with a built-in steam unit holder that you can fold in and out saves storage space compared to a separate ironing board that has to stand upright somewhere.
